My name is Chris Beard and I have a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and a Masters of Science degree in Educational Leadership/Administration, both from the Florida State University. I have served various roles in public education for 20 years. Although most of my career has been in elementary schools, I also have administrative experience working in middle school, high school, and an alternative school. I am really looking forward to working with the staff at Southside Elementary School to provide a high-quality education for our students and to ensure they become lifelong learners. Our goals for this school year are to work closely with representatives from LSI (Learning Sciences International) and to focus our efforts on meeting the individual needs of our students in reading, mathematics, and science to enhance our academic performance on the Florida Standards Assessments. Mirroring the mission in our School Improvement Plan, I strongly believe that it is the mission of the faculty, staff, parents, community, along with all other stakeholders to value and embrace consistent, real-world learning and growth that will result in all students' success. We will ensure that students, regardless of individual background, are provided opportunities for achievement while fostering excellence through academics and relationships. Personally, I am a father of two children. My son, Christopher, is now 26 years old and my daughter, Rhiannon, is sixteen years old and a junior in high school. In my spare time, I enjoy fishing, playing golf, anything outdoors, and spending time with my dog, Max.
