Mrs. Cassie Melvin, Principal

Cassie Melvin is a lifelong resident of Bradford County and a Bradford High School graduate. She holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Thomas University in Psychology. Mrs. Melvin holds a professional education certification in School Principal, Educational Leadership, Middle Grade Social Sciences 5-9 and Physical Education.
 
Mrs. Melvin served Columbia County School District where she coached various middle school and varsity sports along with teaching for four years before joining Bradford County. She taught at Bradford Middle School and was also the Behavior Resource Teacher for a combination of five years before accepting her role as Assistant Principal, then Principal of Brooker Elementary School, for the past four years. Mrs. Melvin is married to Brian Melvin of Brooker, FL and they have two children, Brilee (4) and Brayden (1).
 
Mrs. Melvin is passionate about building morale on school campus, and ensuring that students come first. She prides herself in creating a "team before me" atmosphere amongst staff and is excited about bringing her vision of positive and productive communication and atmosphere to Southside in the fall as your Principal.

Ms. Laurén Morgan, Asst. Principal

Ms. Laurén Morgan holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University (2021), a Master of Education with a Literacy Specialization from the University of Florida (2002) and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Florida (2001). Ms. Morgan holds professional education certifications in Educational Leadership, Elementary Education (K-6) and ESOL Endorsement.
 
Ms. Morgan has served Putnam County Schools for the past four years as a 6th Grade Honors teacher at Melrose Elementary. Prior to that, she served Clay County Schools for ten years at McRae Elementary School and Alachua County Schools for five years at Waldo Community School.
 
Ms. Morgan is a dedicated lifelong learner and is excited to join the Southside Team as Assistant Principal. Her vision is to serve the Southside Family by establishing trust and relationships with all Stakeholders.
 
On a personal note, Ms. Morgan has been a resident of Bradford County for fifteen years. She is looking forward to partnering with everyone to give Bradford County students what each and every one of them deserve - a top-quality, rigorous education that will prepare them well for success in college and life.

Mr. Edrick Hamilton, BRT

Edrick Hamilton is deeply rooted in Bradford County. He is a lifelong resident of Bradford County and a Bradford High School graduate. He has served in Bradford County School District for many years as a volunteer, a mentor, a custodian, a substitute teacher, a paraprofessional, a teacher and a sports coach.

He taught Math and Science at Southside Elementary School for 6 years, where he was the 2019 - 2020 Teacher of the Year. He’s the Founder of the mentoring program “12 Guys In Bow-Ties & 12 Girls In Pearls”, which has been a successful program for 6 years thus far. He has coached cross country and track & field for both Bradford Middle School and Bradford High School for 6 years.

Mr. Hamilton holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Jacksonville University. Mr. Hamilton holds a professional education certification in Elementary Education K-6, ESOL Endorsement and Reading Endorsement K-12.

This year Mr. Hamilton is the Behavior Resource Teacher at Southside Elementary in Starke, FL. He believes that all children deserve the opportunity for quality education. They must learn so that they won't be educationally crippled in the society around them. He believes it takes a village to raise a child, so parents, teachers, coaches, behavior resource teachers, guidance counselors, principals, and the community all play key parts in children’s lives. What he loves most about his job is that he’s able to help connect students to their full potential at being intellectually competent, socially confident, and emotionally stable individuals.
